Feed My Starving Children

This summer, kids and their families spent time at the Feed My Starving Children facility in Aurora, filling bags with one day's worth of food for starving children all over the world. Each bag contains one cup of food specially formulated by scientists, to provide enough nutrition for one day. The bags contain soy, rice, protein and vegetables. The group from Christ Lutheran filled bags enough to feed 46 children for one year. The bags they filled will be sent to Haiti. It was a family event, so parents, kids and teens worked together for the common goal of keeping kids from starvation. Here's the 411 on FMSC: Feed My Starving Children was founded as a Christian nonprofit in 1987 through the efforts of a Minnesota businessman who felt called by God to help feed the starving children of the world during a humanitarian visit to Honduras. It was then that he decided to develop a method of large-scale relief. His efforts, energy and resources resulted in the development of a food mixture that would be easy and safe to transport, simple to make with only boiling water, and culturally acceptable worldwide. kids having funThis basic formula of rice, high protein soy nuggets, vegetables, vitamins and flavoring is packaged to be sent to impoverished areas within the U.S. and beyond our borders.
In addition to the first three sites in Minnesota, a newly opened site in Aurora, IL, expanded the operation. To broaden opportunities to participate, FMSC also becomes mobile, taking operations to other locations.
